How We Review GIC Rates

GICRateCompare.com is an independent comparison and inquiry service. This page explains how the options shown on the site are labelled, how often they are reviewed, and what you should confirm before depositing funds.

  • Rates may change without notice

Providers can adjust GIC rates at any time. A rate shown here reflects the information available when it was last verified.

  • Displayed rates must be reconfirmed

Every rate shown on this site is indicative. It must be reconfirmed with the issuer, deposit broker or licensed representative before any funds are placed.

  • Eligibility and minimum deposits vary

Some products require a minimum deposit, new funds, or a specific account type. A rate that appears available may not apply to your situation.

  • We may connect you with a third party

Where appropriate, an inquiry may be shared with a provider, deposit broker or licensed representative who can confirm current rates and eligibility.

  • Not every product is available in every province

Provincial availability differs by issuer. Credit-union products in particular are often restricted to specific provinces.

Rate freshness labels

Each option carries a "Last verified" date showing when the rate information was last reviewed. We do not claim that every rate is updated daily. Where a rate has not been reviewed recently, treat it as indicative only and confirm the current figure directly.
